RFA CEO Meets Windhoek Mayor to Tackle Traffic Congestion and Improve NaTIS Services. The Chief Executive Officer of the Road Fund Administration (RFA), Mr. Ali Ipinge, paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Windhoek, Cllr Ndeshihafela Larandja, to discuss infrastructure developments and initiatives aimed at addressing traffic congestion and enhancing NaTIS service delivery in the city.
During the meeting, Ipinge revealed that the RFA has invested N$320 million to date in road maintenance within Windhoek. He also provided updates on ongoing major road projects, including the expansion of Auas Road and Eneas Peter Nanyemba Road. Plans for the extension of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Road are also progressing.
Windhoek currently holds the highest number of registered vehicles in the country—a number expected to grow significantly. In response, the RFA plans to establish a One-Stop NaTIS Service Centre in the capital. The proposed facility aims to reduce long queues, improve service turnaround times, and streamline licence testing and vehicle inspection bookings.
Ipinge confirmed that suitable land for the centre has been identified and urged the City to support the application process to accelerate the development timeline. “This project will not only ease congestion but also improve overall service efficiency for residents,” he stated.
Mayor Larandja welcomed the initiative and commended the ongoing collaboration between the RFA and the City. She emphasised the need for a sustainable funding model to support long-term planning and effective infrastructure development.
She added that the land application is under review by the City’s Management Committee and will be presented to Council for further deliberation.
