Namibia’s Israel Dowie Triumphs at J60 Pretoria, Secures Singles and Doubles TTitles. Namibia’s rising tennis star Israel Dowie has captured the spotlight at the ITF U18 Junior World Tennis Tour J60 Pretoria, claiming both the singles and doubles crowns in a remarkable display of talent and determination.
In the singles final, Dowie delivered a commanding performance, defeating Australia’s second seed Connor McEvoy 6-1, 6-4 to secure his second J60 singles title. The victory follows his maiden singles triumph at the J60 Windhoek last month, further cementing his reputation as one of the most promising juniors on the circuit.
Dowie’s success did not end there. Teaming up with South Africa’s Oluhle Senti, his clubmate and regular doubles partner, the pair battled through a tense doubles final against France’s Thomas Coppi and Hong Kong’s Alex Lap Hang Hui. After splitting the first two sets 6-3, 4-6, the Namibian-South African duo held their nerve in the match tiebreak, edging out their opponents 10-8 to claim the doubles title.
The Pretoria doubles victory marks Dowie’s first J60 doubles title and his second ITF doubles crown overall, following his earlier success at the J30 Windhoek doubles event with Senti in April.
These achievements highlight Dowie’s growing consistency and versatility across both singles and doubles formats. His back-to-back titles in Windhoek and Pretoria reflect the momentum he is building on the international junior stage, while also showcasing Namibia’s emerging presence in global tennis.
With two singles titles and two doubles crowns already under his belt, Dowie’s performances are inspiring a new wave of confidence in Namibian tennis, positioning him as a player to watch in upcoming ITF junior competitions.
