117 Groot Aub Youth Take Learner’s Licence Tests Through Mobile Testing Initiative

117 Groot Aub Youth Take Learner’s Licence Tests Through Mobile Testing IInitiative. A total of 117 young people from Groot Aub are taking their learner’s licence tests following free training provided by the City of Windhoek, with a mobile testing unit bringing the service directly to the settlement.

The NATIS on Wheels mobile testing unit is visiting Groot Aub from 13 to 16 October 2026, enabling participants to take their tests without travelling to Windhoek or Rehoboth.

The initiative follows a free learner’s licence training programme facilitated by the City of Windhoek’s Social and Youth Development Division from 14 to 25 September 2026.

The programme forms part of the city’s ongoing efforts to empower young people by providing essential skills and creating opportunities for their future.

The mobile testing arrangements were made through the efforts of Windhoek Councillor Demetreo Ronaldus Beukes, working in collaboration with the Roads Authority.

By bringing testing facilities to Groot Aub, the initiative reduces the need for participants to travel to other towns to complete this stage of the learner’s licensing process.

The arrangement also saves participants the associated travel time and costs, making the testing process more accessible to the young people who completed the training. The 117 participants are now progressing from the training phase to the testing stage, with the mobile unit providing access to the required assessments within their community.

The collaboration between the City of Windhoek and the Roads Authority has enabled the delivery of both training and testing opportunities closer to the participants.

For the City of Windhoek, the programme aligns with its stated commitment to youth development through access to practical skills and opportunities that may support young people’s future plans.

The initiative also demonstrates how mobile public services can help communities access facilities without travelling to larger urban centres.
