Berlin–Windhoek Partnership Highlights Skills, Energy, and Community Impact

Berlin–Windhoek Partnership Highlights Skills, Energy, and Community Impact. Michael Biel has concluded an official visit to Windhoek, where a series of engagements showcased the outcomes of cooperation between the German capital and the Namibian city.

During the visit, Biel observed initiatives linked to the Windhoek–Berlin partnership, beginning at the Semi Mall Market. There, the CAPTURE project is supporting informal traders through targeted interventions aimed at strengthening local economic activity. The delegation also visited EduVenture Namibia, where interactive and practical learning approaches are being explored within the education space.

A key stop included a round table discussion at the Namibia Training Authority, where stakeholders examined the SkillUp Namibia pilot project. The initiative, led by KAYEC alongside other partners, focuses on delivering modular training programmes designed to provide marginalised groups with pathways toward economic participation.

The visit concluded in the Moses Garoeb Constituency, where 12 Solar Champions were equipped with toolkits intended to support the promotion of safe and sustainable energy practices. The initiative is expected to contribute to improved safety measures in local communities.S

Stephanus Ndengu welcomed the programme, noting its potential to address risks such as shack fires while enhancing community well-being. The distribution of solar-related resources forms part of broader efforts to expand access to alternative energy solutions.

Biel expressed satisfaction with the progress observed during the visit, pointing to the role of renewable energy in addressing social priorities. He highlighted Namibia’s solar potential as a key factor in supporting community-level development.

The engagements underscored how international partnerships can translate into practical initiatives across sectors such as education, skills development, and energy access.
