Old Mutual Namibia Hosts Men’s Health Awareness Event in Support of Movember. Old Mutual Namibia hosted a men’s health awareness initiative aimed at encouraging early screening and open dialogue around wellness as part of Movember, the global campaign that highlights men’s health issues. The event invited male employees and selected stakeholders aged 40 and above to participate in free prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood screening, conducted in partnership with the Cancer Association of Namibia.
The screening initiative offered participants an accessible opportunity to prioritise early detection, an important step in addressing men’s health challenges. Organisers emphasised that regular health checks remain one of the most effective ways to manage long-term wellbeing. Alongside the screening, attendees were treated to complimentary grooming services from Tatekulu Barbershop, creating a relaxed and supportive environment for discussions about physical and mental health.
Senior leadership from Old Mutual Namibia participated in the event, demonstrating company-wide commitment to health awareness. Among those present were Group CEO Tassius Chigariro, Chief Operating Officer Logan Fransman, Old Mutual Personal Finance Managing Director Otto Makemba, Old Mutual Short-Term Insurance Managing Director Riaan Swiegelaar, and Investment Group Managing Director Lionel Kannemeyer. Their participation helped reinforce the message that health leadership begins at the top and that wellness should be prioritised at every level of the organisation.
The initiative also encouraged open conversations about the importance of regular check ups, lifestyle management, and mental health awareness. By fostering a supportive atmosphere, Old Mutual Namibia aimed to reduce stigma and encourage men to take a proactive approach to their wellbeing.
As Movember continues to highlight key issues affecting men worldwide, Old Mutual Namibia’s campaign serves as a reminder that meaningful impact starts with practical action and community engagement. The company expressed pride in the positive response and reiterated its commitment to promoting wellness among employees and the wider community.
