Old Mutual Wealth Backs Power House Cycling Club With N$35 000 Desert Dash Sponsorship. Old Mutual Wealth has announced a sponsorship of approximately N$35 000 in support of the Power House Cycling Club as four of its members prepare to compete in the upcoming Desert Dash, one of Namibia’s most demanding endurance events.

The sponsorship will assist the team as they take on the 373-kilometre route stretching across the Namib Desert. Known for its harsh conditions and physically taxing terrain, the Desert Dash is widely regarded as a major test of stamina and determination. For many cyclists, finishing the race represents a significant personal achievement.

This year’s Power House Cycling Club team includes a 19-year-old participant, marking the presence of young competitors within the event. The inclusion of younger riders has highlighted ongoing efforts within the club to support emerging talent and promote long-term participation in endurance sports.

Old Mutual Wealth Manager Christopher Freygang said the company values partnerships that strengthen community engagement and encourage individuals to pursue challenging goals. He noted that supporting the cyclists aligns with the organisation’s focus on empowerment and long-term planning. According to Freygang, the sponsorship represents confidence in the team and recognition of the dedication required to participate in the event.

The Power House Cycling Club is known within Namibia’s cycling community for its commitment to teamwork and consistency. Its involvement in the Desert Dash reflects the club’s ongoing efforts to promote active lifestyles and motivate more people to explore endurance cycling.

Old Mutual Wealth’s contribution forms part of its broader community initiatives aimed at encouraging wellness and resilience. By supporting sports activities, the organisation aims to uplift individuals and underscore the importance of discipline and preparation, both in sports and in everyday decision-making.
