Telecom Namibia Expands School Connectivity in Kavango West with Five Year Broadband Initiative. The school internet connectivity project in the Kavango West Region has been strengthened through a new partnership between Telecom Namibia and the Ministry of Education.

The initiative will provide reliable broadband connectivity to twenty one schools across the region, ensuring each receives a minimum of twenty five megabits per second for a period of five years.

The announcement was made by Telecom Namibia Chief Executive Officer Stanley Shanapinda during the ICT Stakeholders’ Engagement held at Simanya River Lodge in the Kavango West Region.

Speaking at the gathering, Shanapinda said the programme reflects a commitment to expanding digital access in education while supporting long term connectivity needs for learners and teachers.

He called on regional and community leaders to encourage residents to safeguard information and communication technology infrastructure, warning that theft and vandalism continue to disrupt essential services.

The broadband rollout forms part of wider efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure in schools, enabling more consistent access to online learning resources and communication platforms.

By committing to a five year service period, the partners aim to provide sustained connectivity that supports daily academic activities and administrative functions.

The collaboration also highlights the importance of maintaining infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted service delivery across connected schools.

Officials emphasised that community cooperation will play an important role in protecting installations and ensuring long term benefits for learners in the region.
