Telecom Namibia Chief Executive Officer Stanley Shanapinda has officially resigned, with his tenure at the state-owned telecommunications company set to conclude on 1 July 2026.Shanapinda will assume the role of Executive Secretary of the Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA), headquartered in Botswana. His appointment marks a significant transition from leading Namibia’s national telecom operator to serving in a regional regulatory capacity.
The development was confirmed to the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA) by Nomvula Kambinda, Telecom Namibia’s Head of Corporate Communication and Public Relations.Shanapinda’s departure comes at a time when Telecom Namibia continues to navigate a rapidly evolving telecommunications landscape, balancing the demands of digital transformation, infrastructure investment, and service delivery. His leadership has been central to steering the company through these challenges, and his move to CRASA is expected to further strengthen regional cooperation in the communications sector.
CRASA plays a pivotal role in harmonizing regulatory frameworks across Southern Africa, fostering collaboration among member states, and promoting best practices in telecommunications and information technology. Shanapinda’s appointment is anticipated to bring valuable expertise to the association, given his experience in managing a national operator and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Telecom Namibia has yet to announce Shanapinda’s successor, but the transition underscores the importance of continuity in leadership as the company pursues its mandate of expanding connectivity and supporting Namibia’s digital economy.
