Windhoek Champions Local Partnerships at Lüderitz Crayfish Festival 2025

Windhoek Champions Local Partnerships at Lüderitz Crayfish Festival 2025. The City of Windhoek has reaffirmed its commitment to regional cooperation and local economic development by participating in the 18th Annual Lüderitz Crayfish Festival. Representing the capital were Her Worship, Mayor Cllr. Ndeshihafela Larandja, along with Cllr. Illste Keister, Chairperson of the Management Committee, and Cllr. Austin Kwenani.

Held under the theme “Safeguarding Our Ocean Riches,” this year’s festival runs from April 29 to May 5 at the Lüderitz Waterfront and Sports Stadium. It highlights Namibia’s rich seafood culture while promoting regional tourism and economic activity.

The City of Windhoek’s delegation attended the official opening, underscoring its support for collaborative growth among local authorities. The capital city has long maintained a formal cooperation agreement with the Lüderitz Town Council, most recently renewed in 2023. The agreement emphasizes joint efforts in areas such as tourism promotion, human resources, informal settlement management, firefighting services, and urban planning.

The cooperation between Windhoek and Lüderitz is anchored in shared goals of mutual growth, knowledge exchange, and service improvement. The Crayfish Festival not only boosts the local economy through tourism and trade but also serves as a platform to strengthen these civic ties.

As Namibia continues to prioritize regional development and inclusive growth, the City of Windhoek’s participation in initiatives like the Crayfish Festival illustrates a proactive approach to uniting communities and supporting long-term prosperity.
