Swakop Uranium Unveils 2024 Sustainability Report, Donates Livestock Worth N$3 Million to Erongo Farmers. Swakop Uranium has reaffirmed its commitment to responsible mining and community empowerment with the launch of its 2024 Sustainability Report, themed “Mining for a Sustainable Future.” The report was unveiled on 21 October 2025, highlighting milestones in operational excellence, safety, environmental management, and social impact.
Among the event’s highlights was the symbolic handover of 1,008 goats and sheep worth N$3 million to 48 beneficiaries in the Erongo Region under the Hope Farm Project — a long-term initiative aimed at promoting sustainable farming and uplifting local livelihoods.
Now entering Phase 2 of its nationwide rollout, the Hope Farm Project focuses on empowering women and youth through livestock farming, agribusiness skills, and income generation. The initiative is supported by China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform. It aligns closely with Namibia’s Vision 2030 and the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP 6), which prioritises inclusive growth and sustainable resource use.
Swakop Uranium’s Managing Director commended the dedication of employees and partners who have made the company’s sustainability achievements possible. The report showcases progress in environmental conservation, waste management, and renewable energy integration, as well as record safety performance at the Husab Mine, one of the world’s largest uranium operations.
By linking mining operations with social and agricultural development, Swakop Uranium continues to position itself as a key contributor to Namibia’s broader sustainability goals — going “beyond mining” to build long-term value for communities and the nation.
