Swakop Uranium Reaffirms Commitment to National Development in Courtesy Visit. Representatives of CGN Swakop Uranium, led by Board Chairman Mr. Qiu Bin, paid a courtesy visit today to Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare in Windhoek. The delegation provided an update on the company’s current operations and outlined its future trajectory.

Swakop Uranium, which employs approximately 4,300 workers, emphasized its continued investment in projects that support both long-term business sustainability and Namibia’s national development agenda. Among the initiatives highlighted was the company’s partnership with NamWater through the Erongo SUNAM Desalination Joint Venture, which is developing a second desalination plant in the Erongo Region. Representing an investment of about N$3 billion, the project is expected to bolster water security for industry and surrounding communities.

The Prime Minister commended Swakop Uranium for its ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts, noting the importance of expanding initiatives that directly benefit Namibian citizens. He encouraged the company to deepen its involvement in youth capacity building and community development, particularly in the areas of education and agriculture.

Dr. Ngurare also underscored the enduring bilateral relationship between Namibia and China, recalling its roots in Namibia’s liberation struggle. He highlighted that such partnerships continue to play a vital role in strengthening economic cooperation and advancing shared development goals.

The visit reaffirmed Swakop Uranium’s role as a significant contributor to Namibia’s industrial growth, while also emphasizing the importance of aligning corporate strategies with national priorities to ensure inclusive and sustainable progress.
