Nedbank Namibia Advises Customers on Temporary ATM Deposit Limitation for New Banknotes

Nedbank Namibia Advises Customers on Temporary ATM Deposit Limitation for New Banknotes. Nedbank Namibia has issued a notice informing customers that its Intelligent Deposit ATMs are currently unable to accept the newly issued Namibian dollar banknotes, which were officially introduced by the Bank of Namibia on 30 September 2025.

The limitation affects all denominations of the new currency series. As a result, customers are encouraged to use in-branch teller services for cash deposits until the bank’s systems are fully updated to recognize and process the new notes.

In a statement, Nedbank Namibia assured clients that system upgrades are already underway to integrate the new banknotes into its ATM network. The bank emphasized that this is a temporary measure and expressed appreciation for customers’ patience and understanding during the transition period.

The introduction of the new Namibian dollar notes marks a major step by the Bank of Namibia to strengthen national currency security features and align with modern banking standards. As banks across the country adjust their systems, minor disruptions in automated deposit services are expected in the short term.

Nedbank reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring smooth adaptation to the new notes and to maintaining a seamless banking experience for all clients once the upgrade process is complete.
