Namibia and Botswana Deepen Bilateral Cooperation at Second Bi-National Commission in Windhoek. The Ministerial Session of the Second Namibia-Botswana Bi-National Commission (BNC) officially opened today at the Hilton Hotel in Windhoek, marking another significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries.
The high-level meeting is being co-chaired by Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, Hon. Ambassador Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, and Botswana’s Minister of International Relations, Hon. Dr. Phenyo Butale. Running from 6 to 10 October 2025, the BNC brings together senior government officials, technical experts, and policymakers from both nations to evaluate progress and identify new opportunities for cooperation.
In her opening remarks, Hon. Ashipala-Musavyi reaffirmed Namibia’s commitment to deepening collaboration with Botswana across multiple sectors, including trade, infrastructure, energy, education, and security. She highlighted that the BNC remains an essential platform for translating shared aspirations into tangible outcomes that benefit citizens of both nations.
Hon. Dr. Butale echoed this sentiment, noting that Botswana values its partnership with Namibia as a cornerstone of regional stability and development. He underscored the importance of aligning policies and strategies to advance economic diversification, industrialization, and cross-border investments, particularly in sectors that drive sustainable growth.
The Bi-National Commission serves as a key mechanism for reviewing existing agreements and exploring new frameworks for cooperation. It also paves the way for the Presidential Session, which will be co-chaired by President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia and President Adv. Duma G. Boko of Botswana on 10 October 2025.
