NamPower Boosts Education and Health Services in Omusati and Kunene

NamPower Boosts Education and Health Services in Omusati and Kunene. NamPower has extended its support to the Omusati and Kunene regions with donations aimed at strengthening education and healthcare. The contributions, valued at over N$570,000, reflect the company’s commitment to national development and community well-being.

At a handover ceremony in Ruacana, NamPower announced a donation of N$300,000 for the purchase of phonics and reading books for lower primary learners in the Kunene Region. The initiative is intended to strengthen literacy foundations among young learners.

“Recognising that reading and comprehension is a challenge at junior primary level across the country, these essential learning materials will strengthen foundation literacy skills to learners in those specific grades,” said NamPower’s Sakaria Shivolo during the event.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Kunene regional education directorate, Petrus Shipalanga noted that the books directly support the education ministry’s strategy to address learning poverty and ensure stronger outcomes at the foundational level.

In addition to education, NamPower also supported health and community services in the Omusati Region. The company handed over an ambulance and medical equipment worth N$238,958 to the Omona Watjihozu Health Centre, aimed at improving access to emergency care. The donation further included 35 single-bed mattresses valued at N$34,212 for the Uahekua Herunga Primary School hostel.

Omusati Regional Health Director, Dr. Alfons Amoomo, who received the medical equipment on behalf of the health ministry, pledged to ensure its proper use, maintenance, and management so that it provides long-term benefits for the Ruacana community.
