Bank of Namibia Advances Fintech Dialogue with Regional Experts. The Bank of Namibia, through its Innovation Hub, convened an engagement yesterday under the theme “Igniting the Spark: Catalysts for a Thriving Fintech Ecosystem.” The platform brought together local and regional stakeholders to discuss ways of strengthening fintech as a driver of financial transformation.

The event featured two distinguished guest speakers: Mr. Seun Folorunso, Director of the Fintech Association of Nigeria, and Ms. Lyle Horsely, Head of Fintech at the South African Reserve Bank. Both shared insights on the building blocks of successful fintech ecosystems, drawing from experiences in their respective countries. Their presentations highlighted how collaboration, innovation, and regulatory alignment can enable fintech to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.

Speaking at the engagement, the Bank of Namibia reaffirmed its commitment to playing a catalytic role in supporting fintech development within Namibia. The Bank emphasized that modernising the financial system is not only about embracing digital transformation but also about ensuring inclusivity and resilience.

The Innovation Hub serves as a platform to connect innovators, regulators, and financial institutions, with the aim of creating a balanced environment for technology-driven financial services to flourish. Through such engagements, the Bank seeks to enhance responsiveness to market needs while working towards critical policy objectives, including greater financial inclusion and sustainable economic growth.

By hosting thought leaders from across the continent, the Bank underscored the importance of knowledge sharing in shaping Namibia’s fintech journey. The discussions reflected a shared understanding that a thriving fintech ecosystem requires collaboration between regulators, innovators, and the private sector.

The Bank of Namibia stated that it will continue facilitating dialogues and partnerships to position fintech as a key enabler of progress within the financial system.
