NamPower Commits N$727,000 to Strengthen Namibia’s STEM PProgrammes. NamPower Foundation has committed N$727,000 during the 2026 financial year to support the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) and its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) promotional programmes.

The funding is aimed at expanding and strengthening national Mathematics and Science initiatives, with particular attention to learners in rural and underserved communities.

NamPower said the support reflects the alignment between NCRST’s programmes and its commitment to education and skills development.

The N$727,000 contribution will be distributed across five initiatives. The Rural STEM Outreach Programme will receive N$200,000, while N$50,000 has been allocated to the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists.

The National Science Fair Awards will receive N$92,000, with N$247,000 allocated to Mathematics Olympiad Awards. A further N$138,000 will support the National Science Quiz Awards.

Through the sponsorship, NamPower is supporting programmes that promote learner participation in national STEM-related initiatives.

The company acknowledged the role of NCRST in advancing research, science, technology and innovation in Namibia, as well as its contribution to promoting participation in STEM programmes among learners.

NamPower said the funding reflects a shared commitment between the two organisations to strengthening STEM education and expanding access to learning opportunities.

The partnership will also support efforts to nurture the next generation of scientists, innovators and problem-solvers in Namibia.

The Rural STEM Outreach Programme forms part of the allocation and is specifically focused on extending STEM promotional activities to rural and underserved communities.
