Namibia Engages Chinese Clean Energy Giant TBEA in Strategic Courtesy Visit. Honourable Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, today received a courtesy call from Mr. Zhang Junqiang, Managing Director of TBEA Co. Ltd, a major Chinese energy and technology company, at her offices in Windhoek.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and exploring potential investment opportunities aligned with Namibia’s green growth and industrialisation goals.
TBEA Group is one of China’s top energy equipment manufacturers, employing over 30,000 people globally. The company plays a prominent role in advancing clean energy technologies and operates across three strategic industries: high-end power transmission and distribution equipment, silicon-based new energy, and aluminium- and copper-based new materials.
Mr. Zhang outlined TBEA’s international strategy and expressed interest in engaging with Namibia’s public and private sectors to explore avenues in clean energy infrastructure, renewable technologies, and local industrial partnerships. The company’s experience in building integrated energy systems in emerging markets formed the basis of discussions around future cooperation.
Minister Ashipala-Musavyi welcomed the engagement, highlighting Namibia’s ongoing efforts to diversify its energy mix and promote sustainable industrial development. She noted that Namibia’s policy environment remains open to strategic investments that align with national development priorities and contribute to regional value chains.
While no formal agreements were signed during the meeting, the visit marks an important step in deepening commercial and diplomatic ties between Namibia and China in the energy sector. It also reflects Namibia’s broader ambition to position itself as a competitive hub for clean energy innovation in Southern Africa.
