Okongo to Welcome First MTC Retail Shop in August 2026

Okongo to Welcome First MTC Retail Shop in August 22026. Residents of Okongo, a growing town in Namibia’s Ohangwena Region, will soon enjoy direct access to telecommunications services with the opening of the town’s first-ever MTC Retail Shop.

The announcement was made today by MTC, confirming that plans to establish the new MTC Mobile Home have been completed, with the official opening scheduled for August 2026.Currently, residents of Okongo and surrounding communities travel nearly 100 kilometres to Eenhana to access MTC services. The new retail outlet is expected to significantly reduce this burden, providing convenient access to essential services such as mobile connections, airtime, data packages, and customer support.

MTC Corporate Communications Practitioner Erasmus Nekundi explained that the decision to establish a permanent presence in Okongo was driven by the growing demand for telecommunications services in the town and neighbouring areas. He noted that the new shop will not only improve accessibility but also strengthen MTC’s commitment to expanding its footprint across Namibia.

The development is part of MTC’s broader strategy to enhance service delivery and ensure that communities in remote and underserved regions benefit from modern telecommunications infrastructure. By opening a retail shop in Okongo, MTC is reinforcing its role in bridging the digital divide and supporting local economic activity.

The upcoming launch marks a milestone for Okongo, positioning the town as a hub for improved connectivity in the Ohangwena Region. Residents can look forward to more efficient service delivery and reduced travel costs, while MTC continues to expand its reach and strengthen customer engagement nationwide.
