GridOnline Introduces Unified National Pricing to Boost Digital Access

GridOnline Introduces Unified National Pricing to Boost Digital Access. GridOnline, NamPower’s bulk data backhauling service, has announced a new unified national pricing framework aimed at expanding access to digital infrastructure across Namibia. The service, which previously operated on a cost-recovery pricing model based on fibre distance usage, is now adopting a structure designed to benefit operators of all sizes and promote equitable access.

Speaking at the launch event, NamPower Chief Operating Officer Fritz Jacobs, representing Managing Director Kahenge Haulofu, said the shift was more than a pricing adjustment. He described it as a strategic move to level the playing field while harnessing NamPower’s extensive fibre network to connect communities nationwide.

“We are adding services that will enable smaller operators to be competitive and to grow, to offer internet connectivity in under-served areas,” Jacobs stated. “With these innovations, GridOnline is positioning itself not simply as a network provider, but as a catalyst for digital growth, for business competitiveness, and for social inclusion.”

Transmission Executive Leandro Kapolo echoed these sentiments, underscoring NamPower’s commitment to using its infrastructure to bridge the digital divide. He said the company aims to unlock opportunities in every community by ensuring affordable and reliable connectivity.

“GridOnline is more than infrastructure. It is a promise of excellence, innovation, inclusivity, and fairness. It is about creating pathways for growth, empowerment, and connection for generations to come. It is about enabling the 4th Industrial Revolution,” Kapolo noted.

Since its establishment in 2019, GridOnline has grown into a central pillar of Namibia’s ICT ecosystem, providing a reliable platform for bulk data transmission. The new pricing framework is expected to support greater digital participation, particularly for smaller service providers, while reinforcing Namibia’s efforts to strengthen connectivity and foster economic growth.
