NFA Confirms Coach Collin’s Stay, Eyes New Friendlies and Cosafa Cup Preparation

NFA Confirms Coach Collin’s Stay, Eyes New Friendlies and Cosafa Cup Preparation. The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has reaffirmed its confidence in national team coach Collin Benjamin, confirming that he will remain in charge despite the Brave Warriors’ recent failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to the media, NFA President Robert Shimooshili stated that the association fully intends to honour Benjamin’s five-year contract, highlighting the progress achieved under his leadership.

“Coach Collin will remain as the national coach. He has a five-year contract with the NFA which we will honour,” Shimooshili said. “People must also remember what Namibia has achieved with him – we reached the quarter-finals of AFCON for the first time, and we also reached two COSAFA Cup finals. That is very commendable, even though we now failed to qualify for the World Cup.”

Shimooshili emphasised that the focus now shifts to rebuilding and preparing for upcoming regional tournaments. The NFA’s technical department is currently drawing up a detailed plan that includes potential international friendlies aimed at keeping the national team competitive ahead of the 2026 COSAFA Cup.

“It’s back to the drawing board as we prepare for next year’s COSAFA Cup,” he added. “We are also waiting for the technical department to finalise plans for possible friendly matches that will help the team stay sharp and maintain momentum.”

Under Benjamin’s leadership, Namibia has made significant strides on the continental stage, earning recognition for its disciplined and tactical performances. The NFA’s commitment to continuity signals a long-term approach focused on stability, youth development, and gradual growth within Namibian football.
