SanlamAllianz Donation Strengthens Education Support for Namibian Learners. The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) has received a significant donation from SanlamAllianz, aimed at supporting learners across Namibia with essential educational resources.
The donation was officially handed over by SanlamAllianz Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tertius Stears, to Hon. Dino Ballotti, Deputy Minister of MEIYSAC. It includes 150 stationery boxes for senior learners, each equipped with key learning materials such as mathematical sets. These supplies will benefit 14 identified schools nationwide, ensuring that learners have the tools needed to actively participate in their studies.
In addition, 250 learners in the Otjozondjupa Region received prescription glasses through the Vision for Change initiative, which identifies learners with vision challenges and provides screenings and corrective eyewear. The program is designed to improve classroom participation and academic performance by addressing barriers to learning.
Hon. Ballotti expressed gratitude to SanlamAllianz, noting that access to proper learning materials and support services plays a critical role in building confidence and enabling learners to reach their full potential. He emphasized the importance of partnerships between government, the private sector, and communities in strengthening Namibia’s education system.
The Deputy Minister encouraged learners to make good use of the tools provided and remain committed to their academic goals.
Beyond the stationery and glasses, SanlamAllianz has committed close to N$2 million this year toward educational initiatives. These include bursaries for higher education students, internship opportunities, connectivity solutions, smart boards for schools in Tsumkwe, furniture donations, a national career fair, a teachers’ sports tournament in Kavango East, and youth entrepreneurship support through seed capital.
The handover ceremony was attended by senior officials, SanlamAllianz representatives, and learners from Golden Hills Primary School in the Khomas Region, who are among the beneficiaries of the stationery support.
