Nationwide Teaching Bill Consultations Reach Mariental. The nationwide consultations on the Draft Teaching Profession Bill and its Regulations continued today in the Hardap Region, bringing together a wide range of education stakeholders at the Teacher Resource Centre.

The consultations provide a platform for teachers, unions, parents, learners, and community members to contribute to shaping the future of the teaching profession in Namibia. Discussions focus on issues central to the profession, including teacher registration, professional ethics, qualifications, continuous professional development, and disciplinary procedures.

Speaking at the gathering, the Regional Deputy Director for Programmes and Quality Assurance in Hardap, Ms. Asumptha Kaoseb, emphasized the value of inclusivity and community involvement. She noted that the consultations are not only about presenting information but also about ensuring that the voices of all stakeholders are heard and reflected in the final framework.

Ms. Kaoseb further explained that the Bill seeks to enhance teacher accreditation, strengthen accountability, and improve professional development while protecting the educational interests of learners nationwide. She urged participants to engage constructively, ask questions, and put forward practical solutions, reminding them that the process belongs to everyone: “This Bill is ours all.”

The consultations form part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture to develop a framework that responds to the realities faced by teachers and learners across Namibia. By aligning professional standards with community expectations, the Bill is expected to help build a stronger, more accountable education system.
