NamPower Foundation Strengthens Education in Ohangwena with Over N$1.6 Million Investment. The NamPower Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to community development with the successful completion and handover of two major school infrastructure projects worth over N$1.6 million in the Ohangwena Region.

A joint ceremony on 11 November 2025 celebrated the projects at Oluwaya Combined School and Titus Ndjaba Combined School. At Oluwaya Combined School, NamPower funded the construction of a security fence and a guardhouse valued at N$854,370. Meanwhile, at Titus Ndjaba Combined School, the company built three new classrooms valued at N$788,000.

Speaking at the handover, Mr. Isak Hamatwi, Director of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture in the Ohangwena Region, highlighted the pressing educational challenges in the region. He noted that Ohangwena, which currently has over 134,000 learners—the highest in the country—faces significant infrastructure shortages due to increasing enrolment.

Mr. Hamatwi praised NamPower’s contribution as an example of how public-private partnerships can drive meaningful progress in education. “Educating a child is a collective national responsibility. This is a wise and sustainable investment, as education forms the strong foundation for development—a seed from which the future of a nation blossoms,” he said.

The NamPower Foundation, which serves as the utility’s corporate social responsibility arm, emphasized that its support aligns with national goals of improving access to quality education. “At NamPower, we believe that education is essential for empowering future generations,” said Liaison Officer Sarah Wayiti. “Our contribution demonstrates our ongoing commitment to complementing Government’s efforts in improving school infrastructure.”

NamPower called on community members, learners, and educators to protect and maintain the new facilities, ensuring they continue to serve future generations.
