NamPower Foundation Invests N$1.6 Million in Omaheke Schools. NamPower, through its Foundation, has invested N$1.6 million into educational infrastructure in the Omaheke Region, reinforcing its commitment to supporting education as a driver of socio-economic development.
The investment was unveiled during a handover ceremony in Drimiopsis. The Jarijo Kindergarten in Otjiyere, Epukiro Constituency, received a newly built classroom and perimeter fencing valued at N$777,165. In addition, the Mokganedi Tlhabanello Secondary School in Drimiopsis, Kalahari Constituency, benefited from renovations worth N$643,308.25, which included upgrades to a laundry room, study room, and science laboratory, alongside the purchase of essential science equipment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Head of the NamPower Foundation, Otilie Mujoro, emphasised the company’s belief that safe and conducive learning environments are crucial to student success. “At NamPower, we believe that learners’ safety, a conducive learning environment, and infrastructure are prerequisites for producing a good schooling experience, as they encourage better school attendance,” Mujoro said.
Omaheke School Inspector, Ismael Kazondanga, welcomed the support, noting that it goes beyond infrastructure. “It is about giving rural children the same opportunities as those in urban centres. It is about inspiring learners to dream bigger, to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and ultimately, to contribute to the growth and development of our country,” he said.
The NamPower Foundation continues to channel significant resources into education, recognising it as a cornerstone for Namibia’s long-term development. For communities in Omaheke, the investment represents both immediate improvements in learning conditions and a longer-term boost to educational outcomes.
