Namibian Journalist Elago Shitaatala Wins SADC Television Journalism Award. Namibian journalist, producer and presenter Elago N. Shitaatala has won first prize in the television journalism category at the 2026 SADC Media Awards.Shitaatala, who works at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, received recognition at the regional awards, with the Ministry of International Relations and Trade extending its congratulations to the journalist on the achievement.

The award recognises Shitaatala’s work in television journalism and places her among journalists recognised through the 2026 SADC Media Awards.In congratulating Shitaatala, the Ministry encouraged Namibian journalists to take an active interest in future editions of the competition.

The Ministry said greater participation by Namibian journalists could contribute to enhancing Namibia’s profile both within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region and internationally.

The recognition also highlights the role of Namibian media professionals in regional journalism competitions and provides an opportunity for journalists to have their work recognised beyond the country’s borders.

Shitaatala’s professional roles include journalism, production and presenting at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.

The 2026 SADC Media Awards form part of a regional platform recognising media work across the SADC region.The Ministry extended its wishes to Shitaatala for continued success in her journalism career.

The recognition comes as the Ministry calls on other Namibian journalists to participate in future SADC Media Awards competitions.

Through the call for greater participation, the Ministry is encouraging journalists to make use of regional opportunities that recognise work in the media sector.

Shitaatala’s first-place finish in television journalism gives Namibia representation among the recognised entries at the 2026 awards.
