NamPower Invests N$1.68 Million in Oshana School IInfrastructure. NamPower has invested more than N$1.6 million in educational infrastructure across three institutions in Namibia’s Oshana Region, funding a science laboratory, ablution facilities and classroom renovations, alongside the construction of a playground.
The investment supports Etambo Combined School, the Oonte Centre for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), and Shikoyeni Primary School, focusing on improving learning environments and facilities for children.
Etambo Combined School received a science laboratory and equipment valued at N$559,837.51. The investment is intended to support science education by providing the school with dedicated laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
At the Oonte Centre for OVC, NamPower funded ablution facilities valued at N$423,874. The centre provides support to orphans and vulnerable children in the community.
Shikoyeni Primary School received N$696,550.40 for classroom renovations and the construction of a playground.Combined, the three projects represent an investment of N$1,680,261.91 in educational and related infrastructure in the region.
NamPower Foundation head Otilie Mujoro urged the beneficiary institutions to maintain the facilities and ensure their continued use.
She called on Etambo Combined School to ensure that its science equipment is used safely and properly maintained. She also stressed the importance of keeping the Oonte Centre’s ablution facilities functional and protecting the renovated classrooms and playground at Shikoyeni Primary School for current and future generations.
Oshana Region Governor Hofni Alugodhi Iipinge highlighted the importance of infrastructure investment but said teachers’ commitment and learners’ determination would ultimately determine how effectively the facilities translated into educational opportunities.
In a statement delivered on his behalf, Iipinge commended NamPower’s contribution, noting that the investment demonstrated the value of partnerships between government, the private sector, schools and communities.
Martha Shiimi, executive director of the Oonte OVC, also expressed appreciation for the support, saying the contribution demonstrated the positive impact organisations can achieve by working together to improve the lives of vulnerable children.
