Namibia Makes Strong Splash at Inaugural African School Games in Algeria. Namibia is off to a promising start at the 1st African School Games currently underway in Algeria, with young athletes delivering standout performances on the international stage.

Leading the charge is Vitoria de Sousa, who has already earned two medals in the swimming competition. She claimed a bronze medal in the 50m Freestyle and went on to secure silver in the 400m Individual Medley, demonstrating exceptional form and placing herself among Africa’s rising swimming talents.

Joining her on the podium is Rodney Feris, who won a bronze medal in the 50m Butterfly, recording an impressive 612 FINA points. Feris’ performance highlights his growing competitiveness in continental events and sets a strong tone for Team Namibia.

Nathan Bock also made headlines, achieving a personal best in the 50m Butterfly with a time of 26.28 seconds, earning 608 FINA points. While just shy of a medal, his performance marks a major milestone in his career and reflects Namibia’s growing depth in youth swimming.

The action continues tomorrow, with more races lined up for the trio. Vitoria will compete in the 200m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke, while Nathan takes on the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle. Rodney will also return to the pool for the 100m Freestyle.

As Team Namibia competes among the best young athletes on the continent, their performances not only inspire national pride but also reflect the potential of Namibia’s youth sports development.
