Namibia Launches 2026 TVET Calendar Year with 13,512 Trainees. The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), in partnership with the Namibia Training Authority (NTA), has officially launched the 2026 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Calendar Year in Windhoek.
The event marked a significant milestone for the sector, reflecting ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening coordination and expanding access to skills development nationwide.
Delivering the keynote address, Deputy Minister Hon. Dino Ballotti emphasized that Namibia’s vision of becoming an industrialised nation depends on skilled professionals capable of transforming knowledge into practical skills. He noted that government continues to take decisive steps to strengthen the TVET sector through subsidies and improved tertiary education funding models, underscoring a strong investment in the country’s youth.
In his welcoming remarks, NTA Chief Executive Officer Erick Fundula Nenghwanya announced that the 2026 TVET Calendar Year has commenced with 13,512 trainees enrolled so far, with females representing 55% of the total intake. He added that enrolment numbers are expected to increase as registrations continue across the country’s 71 registered training providers.
One of the key developments highlighted during the launch was the integration of the College of the Arts into the NTA framework. This move is aimed at strengthening governance, improving programme alignment, and enhancing opportunities for students within both the creative and vocational training space.
The launch of the 2026 TVET Calendar Year signals Namibia’s commitment to building a skilled workforce that can drive industrialisation, innovation, and sustainable economic growth. With reforms underway and enrolment numbers rising, the TVET sector is positioned to play a central role in shaping the country’s future.
