Choppies Namibia Launches Graduate Training Programme

Choppies Namibia Launches Graduate Training Programme. Choppies Namibia has inducted its first cohort of graduate trainees into a 12-month national graduate training programme, with duties commencing on 2 March 2026.The induction ceremony, held in Windhoek, introduced graduates to the structure and expectations of the programme. Led by HR Manager Wilka Leonard, the session provided an overview of company operations, workplace processes, and performance requirements.

Participants will be placed in stores across the country, including Rosh Pinah, Walvis Bay, Oshakati, Ondangwa, and Grootfontein. The programme follows a rotational structure, with each graduate spending a month in different departments such as receiving, front-end operations, procurement, and store management. This approach is designed to provide practical retail and business management training, equipping graduates with hands-on experience across the value chain.

Partnership agreements have been signed with the International University of Management and Triumphant College, from which graduates will be selected annually. These collaborations ensure a steady pipeline of qualified candidates and strengthen ties between academia and industry.

Country Manager Deon Bauermeister emphasized that the programme forms part of Choppies Namibia’s broader plan to build a sustainable workforce and support youth employment. “This initiative is about preparing young professionals for the realities of the retail sector while contributing to national efforts to address unemployment,” Bauermeister said.

The graduate training programme reflects Choppies Namibia’s commitment to investing in human capital and fostering career development opportunities for young people. By combining structured rotations with mentorship and exposure to diverse operational areas, the initiative aims to create a new generation of skilled professionals capable of driving growth in the retail industry.
