MTC Empowers Staff with N$4 Million Investment in Side Businesses. In a move to support entrepreneurship from within, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has invested N$4 million since 2021 to help its employees build part-time businesses through its in-house Dreamers Programme.
The initiative, which marks its third year, offers both funding and structured business development support to MTC employees, referred to internally as “ambassadors”, who are interested in launching and growing side ventures alongside their full-time roles at the company.
Tim Ekandjo, MTC’s Chief Officer for Brand, Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability, shared that a total of 80 staff members have so far benefitted from the programme. He described the Dreamers Programme as a long-term commitment to employee empowerment and innovation within the workforce.
Participants in the programme receive seed capital to launch their ventures, as well as access to training in business planning, marketing, and financial management. The support is designed to ensure that employees are able to pursue their entrepreneurial goals responsibly, without compromising their performance at work.
The Dreamers Programme aligns with MTC’s broader sustainability agenda, which includes initiatives that promote economic inclusion, skills development, and financial independence.
The company’s approach reflects a growing trend among forward-thinking employers to support intrapreneurship and create a workplace culture that values innovation beyond the office.
