Bank of Namibia Strengthens Partnership as World Bank Welcomes New Country RRepresentative. The Bank of Namibia has reaffirmed its partnership with the World Bank Group following an engagement held in Windhoek to honour Ms. Mariama Sylla, the outgoing Joint Resident Representative for Namibia.

Ms. Sylla, who served from October 2024 to August 2025, was recognised for her contribution in strengthening collaboration between the World Bank Group and Namibia. Her tenure supported efforts to improve access to global development resources, while advancing initiatives aligned with Namibia’s economic and financial goals.

At the same event, the Bank of Namibia officially welcomed Mr. Roland Yameogo as the incoming Country Representative, together with Ms. Elizabeth Ninan, Program Leader for Human Development. Their appointments mark the continuation of the World Bank Group’s mission to provide a single point of contact for Namibia, ensuring efficient access to its broad portfolio of services and solutions.

According to the Bank of Namibia, this partnership is central to achieving the institution’s mandate of safeguarding monetary and financial stability while also supporting long-term national development. With the World Bank’s global expertise and Namibia’s focus on inclusive growth, the collaboration is expected to enhance the country’s ability to respond to emerging challenges and unlock new opportunities.

The engagement was attended by the Bank’s senior leadership, including Governor Mr. Johannes !Gawaxab, Deputy Governors Mr. Ebson Uanguta and Ms. Leonie Elleneeza Dunn, as well as Technical Advisor to the Governor, Mr. Romeo Nel.

The occasion highlighted the importance of continuity in international partnerships, as Namibia seeks to leverage global networks to drive development with speed, efficiency, and impact.
