Bank of Namibia Engages Diplomats on Global Economic SShifts. The Bank of Namibia hosted its annual dialogue with the diplomatic community and development partners under the theme “Navigating a Changing Global Economy: Aligning the Central Bank for the New Economy.” The event focused on unpacking global economic developments, Namibia’s macroeconomic outlook, emerging risks, and strategic opportunities shaping the country’s future.

Delivering the keynote address, Governor Ebson Uanguta highlighted that the global economy is undergoing structural shifts driven by geopolitical tensions, technological transformation, climate-related risks, supply-chain disruptions, and uncertainty in financial markets. He emphasized that these developments require countries and institutions to become more adaptive, resilient, and forward-looking.

Governor Uanguta noted that Namibia, as a small and open economy, remains exposed to external shocks but continues to strategically navigate global uncertainty while unlocking new growth avenues. He stressed that central banks worldwide are increasingly required to go beyond traditional mandates, strengthening capabilities in areas such as digital finance, cyber resilience, financial innovation, and institutional agility

The dialogue provided a platform for diplomats and development partners to engage with Namibia’s central bank leadership on pressing economic issues. It also underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing global challenges while positioning Namibia to seize opportunities in the evolving economic landscape.
