MTC Commits N$624.9 Million to Strengthen Namibia’s ICT IInfrastructure. Mobile Telecommunications Ltd (MTC) has announced a capital expenditure of N$624.9 million for the 2025/26 financial year, earmarked for network infrastructure and ICT projects across Namibia.
The announcement was made during the ICT High-Level Stakeholder Engagement held in Oshakati, where MTC outlined its plans to modernize and expand the country’s digital backbone.
MTC’s Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, said the investment will fund a range of initiatives including network optimisation and modernisation, ICT upgrades, transmission expansion, construction of new towers, and power infrastructure for network sites.
According to the company, the rollout will prioritize expanding coverage, supporting rising data demand, and improving connectivity in remote and underserved areas. This focus reflects MTC’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that communities across Namibia benefit from reliable and accessible telecommunications services.
Ekandjo emphasized that part of the budget will also support power infrastructure projects aimed at improving operational continuity and network resilience. These investments are expected to strengthen service reliability and ensure that MTC’s network can withstand growing demand and external challenges.
Beyond infrastructure, the capital expenditure aligns with MTC’s long-term growth plans, reinforcing its role as a key driver of Namibia’s digital transformation. By investing in ICT upgrades and expanding its footprint, MTC aims to position itself as a leader in delivering innovative solutions that support economic development and social inclusion.
The N$624.9 million allocation marks a decisive step in enhancing Namibia’s telecommunications landscape, ensuring that the country remains competitive in the digital era while providing citizens with improved access to modern communication technologies.
