MTC Expands Rural Digital Access with First Mobile Home in Divundu. Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) marked a significant milestone on Monday with the official opening of its first-ever MTC Mobile Home in Divundu. The launch extends the company’s national footprint to 39 outlets, strengthening efforts to bring essential communication services closer to underserved communities.
The new shop was inaugurated by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus. During the opening, she highlighted the importance of accessible and affordable digital services, noting that connectivity is a key driver of inclusivity, economic participation, and national development.
For residents of Divundu and surrounding areas, the new MTC Mobile Home offers a dedicated point of service for SIM replacements, device purchases, contract services, mobile money support, and customer enquiries. Previously, many customers in this region relied on travelling long distances to access full-service telecommunications support.
Minister Theofelus underscored that expanding digital infrastructure in rural areas ensures that communities remain connected to economic and educational opportunities. She emphasised that the availability of reliable communication tools is no longer a luxury but a necessity for participation in today’s digital economy.
MTC’s expansion into Divundu reflects a continued push to strengthen national network accessibility. The company has been increasing investments in both infrastructure and retail presence to meet rising demand for mobile connectivity, digital financial services, and online access.
Local community members welcomed the new outlet, noting that it brings much-needed convenience and improved service delivery to the area. For businesses, especially small enterprises, the Mobile Home offers easier access to communication solutions that support operations, customer engagement, and digital transactions.
With the Divundu opening, MTC reinforces its commitment to bridging connectivity gaps, enhancing customer experience, and supporting the broader national agenda of expanding digital inclusion. The new shop stands as a step forward in ensuring that more communities are integrated into the country’s growing digital landscape.
