Omega Circle Releases Touching Gospel EP in Memory of Mother

South African gospel group Omega Circle has released a heartfelt new EP, “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother,” a deeply personal project that reflects on loss, faith, and the enduring spiritual connection between parent and child.

The EP was inspired by the songwriter’s reflection on the passing of his mother, whose absence has left a profound mark over the last 20 years. “Losing a mother is one of life’s most difficult experiences,” the group shares. “It can shake your foundation and make it hard to trust the world around you. But in that void, I found myself turning to God and trusting Him to guide me forward.”

Central to the EP is the theme of trust, expressed through the phrase “Ndithembe kuwe,” which means “I trust in You.” The words echo throughout the songs, carrying listeners on a journey of faith, remembrance, and spiritual reflection.

The inspiration for the EP came unexpectedly. One February morning, while feeling uninspired and creatively distant, the songwriter realized that this year marks 20 years since his mother passed away. That moment sparked the creation of songs he imagines he and his mother would have sung together — perhaps even with the grandchildren she never got to meet.

The writing process was deeply personal. Some songs emerged in the stillness of early mornings, others during spontaneous moments of reflection. Every track was written specifically for the EP, except for a reimagined version of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, which opens the project with reverence and sets the tone for the collection.

“This EP is a tribute to the woman who taught me how to love myself and how to love God,” the group explains. “Worship music becomes a bridge, connecting us to memories and a warmth we can no longer experience physically.”

“Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother” transforms grief into worship, offering a space for reflection, healing, and connection with God.
