Stakeholders Validate Draft Skills Development Plan III in Windhoek. The Research and Planning Division convened a Skills Development Plan III (SDP3) External Validation Workshop today at the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM), bringing together key stakeholders from across the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and skills development ecosystem.
The workshop forms part of an ongoing consultation process aimed at strengthening the draft Skills Development Plan III, which will guide Namibia’s skills development priorities in the coming years.
Mr. Indongo Indongo, Manager: Planning and Research, presented participants with the key highlights and proposed strategic priorities of the new plan. Members of the Industry Skills Committees (ISCs) were invited to provide meaningful input to ensure the final document is realistic, responsive to labour market needs, and aligned with national development goals.
Stakeholders also reflected on the implementation of Skills Development Plan II, identifying achievements, challenges, and lessons learned to further strengthen the next phase of planning. The discussions highlighted the importance of building on past successes while addressing gaps to ensure that Namibia’s workforce development strategies remain relevant and effective.
Officials emphasized that the validation workshop was not only about reviewing the draft plan but also about promoting collective ownership. By engaging stakeholders from across the skills ecosystem, the process ensures that the plan reflects diverse perspectives and supports Namibia’s broader economic growth agenda.
Through engagements such as these, the Research and Planning Division continues to foster collaboration in shaping a skills development system that empowers Namibians with the competencies required to thrive in a changing labour market.
The workshop reaffirmed the commitment to aligning skills development with national priorities, ensuring that the SDP3 becomes a practical roadmap for advancing education, training, and workforce readiness in Namibia.
