Namibia Strengthens Business Readiness for AfCFTA Through Regional Engagements. The Ministry of International Relations and Trade (MIRT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME), has announced a series of regional business engagements aimed at enhancing Namibia’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The sessions are scheduled for Thursday, 13 November 2025 in Oshakati (Oshana Region) and Friday, 14 November 2025 in Eenhana (Ohangwena Region). These events will bring together government officials, private sector leaders, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to discuss how Namibia can strengthen its competitiveness and integration within the continental trade framework.
The engagements are designed to serve as a strategic dialogue platform between government and industry, identifying export-ready businesses and aligning national policies to support sustainable and inclusive trade. Officials from both ministries will use the sessions to gather valuable feedback on regulatory, infrastructural, and logistical challenges faced by Namibian exporters, while exploring ways to better position the country within regional value chains.
The AfCFTA, which seeks to create a single continental market for goods and services across Africa, offers Namibia a unique opportunity to diversify its economy and expand its trade footprint beyond the Southern African region.
Through these engagements, the Ministries reaffirm their commitment to public-private sector collaboration, with a shared goal of building a more resilient and export-oriented economy.
