Kavango West Launches Fruit Tree and Creative Industries Campaign to Boost Regional Growth

Kavango West Launches Fruit Tree and Creative Industries Campaign to Boost Regional Growth. Kavango West Regional Governor Verna Sinimbo has officially launched a dual-purpose regional campaign aimed at strengthening both food security and the creative economy. The initiative, which began on Tuesday in Ncamagoro Constituency, will run from 11 to 21 November, covering all constituencies across the region.

The fruit tree planting campaign seeks to encourage sustainable agriculture and improve household food production, aligning with national efforts to promote self-sufficiency and climate resilience. Local communities will participate in planting fruit trees suited to the region’s conditions, helping to combat food insecurity while enhancing environmental sustainability.

In addition to the agricultural drive, the campaign incorporates a Creative Industries Awareness Programme, focusing on talent identification, skills development, and database registration of artists and cultural practitioners. This component aims to formalize and empower creative individuals, positioning the arts and culture sector as a viable contributor to regional economic development.

Governor Sinimbo emphasized that both initiatives are designed to foster inclusive growth. By combining agriculture and creativity, the programme highlights the region’s commitment to building a diversified and sustainable economy driven by both innovation and productivity.

Community engagement remains central to the campaign’s success, with local leaders and youth groups encouraged to actively participate in planting activities and creative workshops.
