Namibia Validates Step by Step Trade Guide to Advance AfCFTA Implementation. Windhoek marked a key moment in Namibia’s African Continental Free Trade Area implementation on 5 February 2026 with the official Validation Workshop for the Step by Step Guide for Trading in Goods under the AfCFTA. The two day workshop runs from 5 to 6 February 2026 and brings together public and private sector stakeholders involved in trade and economic development.
The workshop was officially opened by Ms Ndiitah Nghipondoka Robiati, Executive Director of the Ministry of International Relations and Trade. Remarks were delivered by Mr Asser Nashikaku, Director of International Trade. The validation workshop is jointly organised by the Ministry of International Relations and Trade, the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa through its Subregional Office for Southern Africa and the Africa Trade Policy Centre.
In her opening message, Ms Nghipondoka Robiati highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area as a central instrument in Africa’s trade and industrialisation agenda. She pointed to its role in expanding Namibia’s export opportunities, strengthening regional value chains, and supporting inclusive growth, with specific reference to micro, small and medium enterprises, women and youth. She stressed that accessible and practical trade information is necessary to translate continental trade frameworks into measurable business activity.
Speaking on behalf of Ms Eunice G. Kamwendo, Director of the ECA Subregional Office for Southern Africa, Ms Zodwa Mabuza, Chief of the Subregional Initiatives Section, explained that the Step by Step Guide is intended to support businesses by providing clear guidance on trade procedures and requirements under the AfCFTA.
From the private sector, Mr Titus Nampala, Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, described the Guide as an important response to long standing questions from businesses on how to engage with the AfCFTA. He also noted the importance of broadening Namibia’s export base and market reach.
The workshop brings together government officials, private sector representatives, MSMEs, development partners and the media to review and refine the Guide. Once validated, it will be integrated into Namibia’s Trade Information Portal to support access to trade information and market intelligence.
