China Maintains Position as Namibia’s Top Trading Partner in November 2024. China retained its position as Namibia’s largest trading partner in November 2024, serving as the leading destination for Namibian exports and a key supplier of imports. This was revealed in the latest trade statistics bulletin published by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA).
Namibia’s exports to China accounted for 26.8% of total shipments, with uranium standing out as the country’s primary export commodity, according to NSA Statistician General Alex Shimuafeni. On the import side, China contributed 24.6% of Namibia’s total imports, supplying items such as aircraft, related equipment, and motor vehicles, Shimuafeni noted.
Namibia recorded a trade deficit of 5.5 billion Namibian dollars (approximately 290 million U.S. dollars) in November, reflecting an improvement from the 7.7 billion Namibian dollars reported in October. South Africa, Botswana, Belgium, and Zambia also ranked among Namibia’s key trading partners during this period.
South Africa accounted for 17.4% of Namibia’s exports and 34.9% of its imports, securing its position as the top source of imports. Botswana, Belgium, and Zambia followed as major export destinations, contributing 14.3%, 12.1%, and 9.4% of Namibia’s exports, respectively.
Namibia’s primary exports during the month included diamonds sent to Botswana, copper to Belgium, and fish and fertilizers to Zambia. In contrast, Zambia supplied 3.6% of Namibia’s imports, primarily nickel ores and concentrates.
