Youth Skills Centre Produces Hospitality Aprons in Mariental

Youth Skills Centre Produces Hospitality Aprons in Mariental. The Kai//Ganaxab Youth Skills Training Centre (YSTC), under the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, has successfully produced aprons designed for kitchen staff and hospitality trainees. The initiative was carried out through the Centre’s Tailoring and Fashion Design training workshop, showcasing the practical outcomes of youth-focused skills development.

Located in the Hardap Region, the Centre continues to emphasize the importance of equipping young people with hands-on skills that enhance employability. The production of aprons highlights how vocational training can directly support the growing demand within Namibia’s hospitality sector, while also empowering learners with marketable expertise.

Officials noted that the project reflects YSTC’s broader mission of preparing youth for diverse career opportunities by combining creativity with functionality. The aprons, tailored to meet industry standards, are expected to serve both as training tools and as practical resources for hospitality environments.

The initiative also demonstrates how targeted skills development can contribute to local economic growth. By producing items that meet real sector needs, the Centre is helping bridge the gap between training and employment, ensuring that learners are not only gaining knowledge but also creating products with tangible value.

Participants in the workshop expressed pride in their achievements, noting that the project gave them confidence in their abilities and a sense of contribution to the community. The Centre’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to expanding similar initiatives, reinforcing the role of vocational training in youth empowerment.

The successful production of aprons stands as a testament to the Centre’s dedication to fostering innovation, creativity, and practical skills among Namibia’s youth, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the demands of the hospitality industry and beyond.
