Windhoek Junior Council Welcomes Berlin Delegation in Inspiring Youth Exchange

Windhoek Junior Council Welcomes Berlin Delegation in Inspiring Youth Exchange. The City of Windhoek’s Junior Council played host to a distinguished delegation from Berlin, Germany, on a day that celebrated youth leadership, global cooperation, and community-driven impact.

Led by Cornelia Seibeld, President of the Berlin House of Representatives, the visiting group engaged with Windhoek’s young leaders to learn more about the structure, projects, and impact of the Junior Council. The Berlin delegation was particularly impressed by the dedication and discipline of Windhoek’s youth representatives.

Junior Mayor Cllr. Milano Gogol highlighted the Council’s ongoing Child Safety Awareness Campaign—a local adaptation of the U.S.-based “It’s 10 PM, do you know where your child is?” initiative. The campaign aims to promote child safety through community education, parental involvement, and multilingual media outreach.

Deputy Junior Mayor Cllr. Elister Groenewald presented the Council’s ongoing Cancer Project, a collaborative effort with the Cancer Association of Namibia and the Ministry of Health. Through hospital visits, donations, and awareness events, the project offers emotional support to young cancer patients while promoting early detection.

The session concluded with an open dialogue between the two groups, exploring future collaborations and comparing the structure of junior councils in both cities.
