Public Review of 2025/2026 Electricity Tariff Proposal Underway in Walvis Bay

Public Review of 2025/2026 Electricity Tariff Proposal Underway in Walvis Bay. The Electricity Control Board (ECB), in collaboration with Erongo RED, is hosting a public presentation session in Walvis Bay to review the proposed electricity tariffs for the 2025/2026 financial year.

The session, which forms part of a structured consultation process, gives residential users, businesses, local authorities, and media representatives an opportunity to engage directly with both the ECB and Erongo RED. The aim is to promote transparency in tariff setting while encouraging stakeholder feedback before final decisions are made.

As the licensed electricity distributor for the Erongo Region, Erongo RED outlined its proposed tariff adjustments during the session. The presentation included key considerations influencing the application, such as operational costs, infrastructure investment needs, and national energy policy alignment.

Attendees had the chance to pose questions, seek clarification, and express concerns regarding how the proposed changes could affect electricity costs for households and businesses in the region. The ECB also provided insight into their role in evaluating the tariff application to ensure fair pricing, financial sustainability, and protection of consumer interests.

This public engagement aligns with the ECB’s regulatory mandate and broader commitment to stakeholder inclusion in Namibia’s electricity sector. Similar sessions are expected to be held in other parts of the region as part of the ongoing consultation process.
