National Youth Orchestra Festival 2025 Showcases Musical Storytelling and Cross-Cultural Mentorship. A celebration of youthful talent, musical excellence, and cultural exchange is set to unfold this June as the National Youth Orchestra Festival 2025 brings together aspiring musicians from across Namibia for an inspiring week of performance and learning.
The festival officially opens on 14 June at 14h00 with a free faculty concert at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN). The event features performances by international mentors from Germany, offering the public a family-friendly afternoon of music while introducing the world-class instructors who will guide the young orchestra throughout the festival.
Culminating in two gala concerts on 20 and 21 June at 19h00, the festival’s theme, “Storytelling Through Music,” invites audiences to experience the emotional and narrative power of orchestral performance. Young musicians aged 8 to 28 will perform under the guidance of professional mentors from both Namibia and Germany, showcasing the outcomes of intensive collaboration and training.
A major highlight of the gala events is the world premiere of “Otjihambarere – A Namibian Fairytale”, composed by Eslon Hindundu. This special work will feature a guest performance by the St. Patrick’s School Choir from Omomas, situated in the Kalkrand District.
The National Theatre of Namibia, a proud supporter of the festival, encourages families, music lovers, and the broader community to attend and witness the energy and promise of Namibia’s next generation of musicians.
