NTA Sets 2026 Focus on Delivering Industry Relevant Skills

NTA Sets 2026 Focus on Delivering Industry Relevant Skills. The Namibia Training Authority has outlined its priorities for 2026, placing strong emphasis on delivering practical results in skills development and workforce readiness.

During a recent all staff engagement, the authority reviewed progress made in expanding vocational training centre infrastructure, advancing technical and vocational education and training reform, and responding to critical skills gaps. The session also set the tone for the year ahead, with a renewed focus on implementation and measurable impact.

NTA leadership indicated that efforts in 2026 will centre on aligning training programmes more closely with economic demand, improving graduate employability, and modernising the broader skills development system. These goals form part of a wider push to ensure that training initiatives are directly linked to national development needs.

Chief Executive Officer Erick Fundula Nenghwaya said the institution’s direction for the year is firmly focused on moving from planning to delivery. He noted that skills development must play a meaningful role in supporting Namibia’s economic growth.

A key driver of this shift is the rollout of the Integrated Strategic Business Plan for 2026 to 2031. The plan is expected to guide the authority’s work in strengthening the quality, sustainability and relevance of training offered to young people across the country.

The authority’s renewed direction highlights the importance of building a workforce that is both competitive and inclusive. By focusing on industry relevant training and stronger links between education and the labour market, the NTA aims to contribute to improved opportunities for youth.

As the year begins, the authority’s message to stakeholders is centred on execution and collaboration, with skills development positioned as a cornerstone of Namibia’s long term economic and social progress.
