NamPost Appointed as Official Distributor of Social Grants Across Namibia. The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that NamPost will assume the role of official service provider for the distribution of social grants nationwide, effective 1 October 2025. The announcement was made by Ministerial spokesperson Wilson Shikoto, who outlined the Ministry’s plan to improve service delivery and promote greater financial inclusion.
Under the new system, grant recipients residing within towns and settlements will now collect their grants directly from their nearest NamPost branch. For recipients living more than five kilometres from a NamPost office, the current mobile outreach and delivery services will continue to operate.
“This change is aimed at improving service efficiency, enhancing financial inclusion, and ensuring consistent access to social grants for all qualifying recipients,” said Shikoto. “NamPost’s national footprint and infrastructure make it a strong partner to deliver a reliable and streamlined payment system.”
The Ministry emphasised that the shift is part of broader reforms to ensure that public services are accessible, transparent, and digitally enabled where possible. NamPost’s established network of offices and experience in financial services positions it to handle the transition smoothly.
All current beneficiaries are urged to attend upcoming regional meetings where more details will be shared about the changes, including how to collect grants, specific payment schedules, and the locations of collection points.
The Ministry encouraged all stakeholders, including local leaders and community organisers, to support awareness efforts and help guide beneficiaries through the transition.
