Namibia’s Top Junior Tennis Stars Shine at National Junior Masters Championship

Namibia’s Top Junior Tennis Stars Shine at National Junior Masters Championship. Olympia’s Central Tennis Courts played host to Namibia’s premier junior tennis talent last weekend as the country’s top players competed across the U16 to U10 age groups in the Junior Masters Championship. The event, organised by the Namibia Tennis Association (NTA), showcased emerging talent and determined the national champions for 2025.

The championship brought together players ranked based on points earned in tournaments throughout the season. Each category crowned a champion, with silver and bronze medals awarded to the runners-up and third-place finishers. While the top-eight format guided the competition, organisers noted that some age groups had fewer participants due to limited entries and injuries.

In the U16 girls’ division, top seed Joanivia Bezuidenhout overcame second seed Mari van Schalkwyk in a thrilling three-set final, 0-6, 6-3, 7-6, with Natalia Ouses claiming third place. Dante Marcus dominated the U16 boys’ category, securing a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Aidan Matroos, while Lazarus Kanelombe took third.

The U14 titles went to Elrica Nakusera and Johan Theron. Nakusera defeated Emma Brinkmann 6-1, 6-3 in the girls’ final, with Secilia Nghitewapo finishing third. Theron triumphed over Tadiwa Mombeyarara 6-3, 6-4 in the boys’ final, with Steven Gathuru taking third place.

In the U12 competitions, Niamey Marcus claimed the girls’ title with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Madison Hoff, and Breyton Bezuidenhout edged past Shafishina Shimali 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 to win the boys’ crown. The U10 titles were secured by Janice Bezuidenhout and Ilan Aisindi, who both dominated their respective finals.

Organisers confirmed that the tennis season will conclude with the Swakopmund Open, scheduled from 12 to 21 December, featuring both junior and senior divisions. The Junior Masters Championship continues to serve as a key platform for nurturing Namibia’s next generation of tennis talent.
