Namibia Tables N$105.9 Billion Budget, ICT Ministry Secures N$682 Million Allocation. Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises Erica Shafudah on Thursday announced the national budget for the 2026/2027 financial year, totaling N$105.9 billion. The appropriation includes an operational budget of N$81.3 billion and N$6.5 billion dedicated to state-funded developmental projects.
As part of the allocations, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology will receive N$682 million to carry out its mandate during the financial year. The funding is expected to support initiatives that strengthen Namibia’s digital infrastructure, enhance communication services, and expand access to information across the country.
Minister Shafudah emphasized that the budget reflects government’s commitment to balancing operational needs with long-term development priorities. The allocation to ICT highlights the sector’s growing importance in driving innovation, improving service delivery, and supporting economic diversification.
The N$6.5 billion earmarked for developmental projects will focus on initiatives that stimulate growth, create jobs, and improve public services. Meanwhile, the operational budget of N$81.3 billion will sustain government functions and ensure continuity in service provision.
The announcement marks a significant step in Namibia’s fiscal planning for 2026/2027, with emphasis placed on aligning resources to national priorities. The ICT allocation, in particular, underscores the role of technology in shaping Namibia’s future economy and governance frameworks.
As the budget process advances, attention will turn to how ministries implement their allocations to achieve measurable outcomes. The ICT sector’s funding is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Namibia’s digital transformation agenda and strengthening its capacity to meet the demands of a modern economy.
