Namibia Showcases Automotive Potential at Intra-African Trade Fair in Algiers. Algiers, Algeria – Namibia’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Honourable Jenelly Matundu, is accompanying Vice President H.E. Lucia Witbooi at the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), which runs in Algiers until 10 September 2025 under the theme “A Gateway to New Opportunities.”

Organised by Afreximbank in collaboration with the African Union Commission and the AfCFTA Secretariat, the trade fair brings together governments, businesses, and industry leaders from across the continent to explore partnerships and expand intra-African trade.During the roundtable, Hon. Matundu underscored Namibia’s potential in the automotive components manufacturing sector. She highlighted the opportunity for the country to position itself within the AfCFTA framework as a regional supplier of vehicle parts and related products.

On 5 September 2025, Hon. Matundu participated in a High-Level Ministerial Roundtable held under the theme “Advancing the AfCFTA Automotive Agenda through Trade, Industry, and Continental Leadership.” The Africa Automotive Forum convened policymakers and stakeholders to discuss building a competitive automotive industry in Africa while unlocking job opportunities through component manufacturing.

During the roundtable, Hon. Matundu underscored Namibia’s potential in the automotive components manufacturing sector. She highlighted the opportunity for the country to position itself within the AfCFTA framework as a regional supplier of vehicle parts and related products.

She also outlined Namibia’s broader approach to trade integration, pointing to the government’s nationwide Ministerial Business Community Engagements Series, designed to support the country’s strategic participation in the continental trade framework.

Hon. Matundu further referenced President H.E. Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s call for Unity in Diversity, Natural Resources Beneficiation, and Youth Empowerment as drivers of sustainable development. She stressed that key enablers of the automotive sector, identified in the National Development Plan 6 (NDP6), including infrastructure and energy, are central to unlocking the potential of Namibia’s youthful population in pursuit of Vision 2030.

Namibia’s active role at IATF 2025 reflects its commitment to advancing industrialisation, strengthening regional trade, and building new opportunities under the AfCFTA framework.
