Namibia Explores Investment Opportunities with DRC’s Vinmart Group. Hon. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Minister of International Relations and Trade, held bilateral talks with Vinmart Group, a conglomerate from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on 22 August 2025. The meeting highlighted Namibia’s drive to attract investment that supports industrialisation and sustainable economic growth.
Vinmart Group operates across multiple sectors including mining, construction, manufacturing, and housing. The Honourable Minister welcomed the group’s interest in Namibia, noting that the sectors under discussion align closely with national priorities. She emphasised Namibia’s shift from being primarily an exporter of raw materials to building a value-added economy that delivers greater benefits for its citizens.
The discussions explored a wide range of cooperation opportunities. These included mining partnerships, where value addition and skills transfer are seen as key; housing development, aimed at addressing growing urbanisation needs; and construction projects, which support infrastructure expansion. Further dialogue also touched on agro-processing machinery to boost Namibia’s agricultural output and vocational training initiatives to build a skilled workforce capable of sustaining industrial growth.
Both sides acknowledged that there are promising prospects for future partnerships. The engagement underscores Namibia’s openness to working with regional and international investors to diversify its economy and strengthen key industries.
The bilateral talks with Vinmart Group also reflect the country’s continued emphasis on leveraging partnerships that balance investment opportunities with national development goals. For Namibia, such cooperation could help accelerate industrial capacity, create jobs, and expand opportunities for local enterprises to integrate into regional and global value chains.
